We had a wonderful week with lots of excitement! Dave, Melanie and Sully flew in from Washington State Friday night. The same evening, Mike, Eileen, Aubin, Hank and Ella drove up from Raleigh. We had to pack a lot of things in during the few days we had. These pictures are mainly from Sunday, when we had a big gathering at Mom and Dad's house and the Egg Hunt, and from Monday at the National Zoo. I realized that 90% of the pictures are of the kids, so I threw in a few of as many of the adults as I could find, even if it was standing around. :) There is a series of the "Up Up and Away" game the guys invented with the kids' hoppers- they are grown, but still so easily amused! Anyway, the kids are the cutest and most fun to photograph!

Hives! and other happenings
Poor Joel has had a rough couple of weeks. First, he got his first ear infection ever, and was on antibiotics for 10 days. Then yesterday, I (Annie) got a call at work from the sitter saying he had a rash was spreading rapidly. So of course, I rushed him to the doctor, who said (thankfully) that it wasn't a reaction to the medicine, but another manifestation of the virus that led to his ear infection. Sadly, we found out the first round of antibiotics didn't kick the infection, so he's got another 10 days of those coming, with antihistamines for the hives. He had a rough night, and keeps saying "I'm itchy!" Not a great week for him so far.
I am adding a few fun things to this post too, so it's not all hives and ear aches...
Gideon is SUPER in to space these days, and has read just about every book in the kids section of the library about a hundred times. He knows more about the solar system than I think I ever knew. He often corrects me about things- like today when I said something about a moon of Venus, he said "Mommy, Mercury and Venus don't have moons, because they are too close to the sun." Go figure.
Here's a cute pic Gideon did on the Magna Doodle the other day. I'm pretty sure the boy is flying a kite and thinking about a treasure map.
He's also into photography. Here's his latest self-portrait!
The videos below are one of the boys in the tub (to show off Joel's lovely hivey skin, and Gideon's new swimming skill) and one of Joel reading his Things That Go book to Kevin. Joel is obsessed with trucks and any kind of vehicle. I think it's hilarious that he can pick out things like a camper van and jet ski.

A visit from the Waco Weltys!
We had a great visit with Katie, Lillian, Jack and Wes this past week. It's so special when we can get time together. Even though we were slowed down by a stomach bug, you can see from the pictures that we still managed to have tons of fun!
This was the debut of our "new" bunkbeds in the playroom. They were a big hit for playing and sleeping. :)
On Thursday, we met up with Zubas at IKEA for lunch. Free kids meals week!
Jack and Joel are so funny! It's going to be fun to see how they grow up together.
Playdough time!
Make your own pizzas night!
The main event! Lillian's 5th birthday. The party was hosted over at the Zubas. We all had a great time, and once the kids were all put to bed, the adults got to have some time to catch up too. Sadly, this is when the virus struck our first victim- Jack. At least he got to enjoy the cake first!
Our final morning together was lengthened by a couple of hours due to the ice storm that had the roads messed up for a while. Lillian was excited to try out her new snow boots that she got for her birthday. Pink, of course.
Look closely...can you spot a couple of cute 2 year olds in this picture?
